Senior Android Engineer Overview We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications. This individual will play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and user-friendly mobile experiences while contributing to architectural decisions, engineering best practices, and the overall direction of the mobile platform. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Kotlin, modern Android development, and mobile application architecture, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and take ownership of features from concept through release. Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Android applications. • Build modern, responsive user interfaces using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose or Android Views. • Contribute to application architecture, technical design decisions, and long-term platform strategy. • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established engineering standards. • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Ensure application performance, reliability, security, and scalability. • Implement automated testing, debugging, and monitoring to maintain application quality. • Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver features that meet business and user needs. • Identify technical challenges and recommend practical solutions that balance quality, maintainability, and delivery timelines. • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to support the growth of the engineering team. • Contribute to build, deployment, and release processes, including Google Play Store releases. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of professional Android application development experience. • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and a solid understanding of the Android SDK and ecosystem. • Experience building and maintaining production Android applications. • Knowledge of modern Android architecture patterns, such as MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture. • Experience with asynchronous programming, including Kotlin Coroutines and Flow. • Familiarity with Android Jetpack libraries, dependency injection, and data persistence solutions. • Experience with REST APIs and integrating mobile applications with backend services. • Understanding of mobile application testing, debugging, performance optimization, and lifecycle management. • Experience with Git, code reviews, and collaborative software development workflows. • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of technical deliverables. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern declarative UI development. • Familiarity with Room, DataStore, and other Android persistence frameworks. • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Espresso, or UI Automator. • Knowledge of mobile application security, authentication, encryption, and secure data storage. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build and release processes. • Familiarity with performance monitoring, crash reporting, and application analytics. • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical standards and architecture decisions. • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional product teams.
