Job Title Registered Nurse – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown) Location Dayton, OH | Step Down / PCU Schedule / Job Type Contract (13- or 18-week assignments available) | Nights, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide pre- and post-operative care for open heart surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacement, mitral clip, TAVR, and thoracotomy procedures • Manage advanced cardiac patients on continuous telemetry, including cardiac drip titration and EKG/dysrhythmia strip interpretation • Care for pulmonary patients with conditions such as pneumothorax, hemothorax, chest tubes, and zephyr valve procedures • Maintain targeted patient ratios of 1:4–6 within a 36-bed step down unit • Float within the hospital or to nearby affiliated campuses based on census and skill set, as directed • Document all patient care accurately using Epic EMR Required Qualifications • Active RN license in any U.S. state or valid compact license • CABG and valve post-operative experience required • Documented Step Down or PCU experience at a 1:5 ratio or similar — must be reflected in work history; ICU experience alone does not qualify • BLS and ACLS certifications required • Demonstrated ability to perform IV starts, NIH stroke scale, cardiac drip titration, and read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips • Epic EMR experience required • Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to assignment start (within 72 hours of contract signing) • Must be available to work every other weekend and every other holiday • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Preferred Experience / Skills • Minimum 1.5 years of experience, with some exposure to a Level 1 or Level 2 facility preferred • Prior travel nursing experience preferred • Comfort with floating to other units or nearby affiliated campuses based on census and clinical skill set Why Join Us • Opportunity to work in a specialized cardiac and thoracic step down environment with a diverse and complex patient population • Winter contract positions available with 13- or 18-week assignment options to fit your scheduling needs
